Common metrics and common protocols for experimental ecology across sites

The workshop will discuss common metrics (phytometer, nutrient metric) and their implementation in existing experiments + Discuss the collected protocols for  measurements typically made in global change manipulation experiments and plan the writing of the manuscripts.

We plan to write a paper on the importance and use of common metrics, including first results of the phytometer approach. Implementation of phytometers in experiments is expected to result in at least one, but presumably more manuscripts reporting on the results as well as improvements to the approach.

Measuring nutrient availability in a standardized way (common metric for nutrient availability) will add important information to an existing database with results from global change manipulation experiments and will facilitate syntheses efforts unraveling the role of nutrients on ecosystem responses to global changes.

A series of focused papers on common protocols for ecology-related measurements will be submitted to Methods in Ecology and Evolution.
